Local school visit Television Centre to explore the gardens
Sep 28, 2021
ShareTwelve children from local Wormholt Park Primary School visited Television Centre on the morning of 28th September to examine flowers, plants and everything else the TVC gardens have to offer.
The children were given a guided tour from garden management team leader Brian who explained the role of the team in maintaining the plants and landscaping the gardens. The children learnt the names of flowers, why they were chosen for each area and what happens when the plants die off and the team must begin re-planting in the spring.
The children were particularly taken by the Japanese Windflowers planted across Television Centre. Having examined the flowers, bushes and grasses on the forecourt, Helios and the Crescent, the children sat down with their teacher Kathryn to ask Brian some rather tricky gardening questions.
The visit was enjoyed by all and some of the children have developed green thumbs to take back to their allotment garden at school!
