Throughout May 2025, Television Centre marked National Photography Month with a dual celebration of visual storytelling — spotlighting emerging photographic talent from the Royal College of Art and welcoming a fresh perspective on its iconic architecture through a social media takeover by acclaimed architectural photographer Jack Fleming.

Part One: RCA x Television Centre — A Month of Photography

Television Centre partnered with students from the Royal College of Art’s photography programme to present a month-long public installation series that unfolded in four weekly chapters. Each themed exhibition transformed the site into a meditative and imaginative lens through which to explore contemporary life.

  • Week 1: A Meditation of Boundaries
An intimate reflection on the inherited, constructed, and dissolved borders that shape our identities, using culturally nuanced and emotionally charged photography.

  • Week 2: Deep Time
Imagined geological landscapes stretched across millennia, centring nature as both force and form in photographic exploration.

  • Week 3: Fractured Frames
A powerful investigation into memory, embodiment, and resistance — portraying photography as a means of reclaiming space and emotion.

  • Week 4: Inner Landscapes
Merging analogue and digital processes, this final exhibition captured how the rhythms of the natural world reflect our internal emotional states.

Each installation invited the public to engage with contemporary photography in an accessible, thought-provoking way, reinforcing Television Centre’s role as a creative and community-focused destination.

Part Two: Through His Lens — Jack Fleming’s Instagram Takeover

To complement the RCA collaboration, Television Centre handed over its Instagram account (@thisistvc) to architectural photographer Jack Fleming (@architecture_anatomy) for a one-day creative takeover.

Famed for his minimalist compositions and focus on structural harmony, Jack turned his lens on the Television Centre site — capturing its sharp lines, soft light, and iconic design elements in a fresh, modern context.

Throughout the takeover, followers were treated to:

  • Behind-the-scenes Stories and posts offering a peek into Jack’s artistic process

  • Practical photography tips and tricks for aspiring creatives

  • A playful quiz designed to engage and educate viewers

  • A stunning visual journey across the site, exploring its evolution from historic broadcasting hub to vibrant cultural landmark

Jack’s takeover offered a dynamic reintroduction to the architecture of Television Centre — showing it not as a relic of the past, but as a living, breathing subject of creative expression.

Together, these two initiatives underlined Television Centre’s commitment to fostering artistic collaboration, supporting new voices, and sharing its iconic story through new eyes and fresh perspectives.
