Television

Centre welcomed its latest visitors to the thriving community, Wormholt Primary

School. The group of lively school children enjoyed a morning of action-packed

fun and entertainment as they explored the grounds and discovered the flourishing

gardens at the West London site. Developers Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo invited the nearby school for a visit in an attempt to demonstrate how green areas in

cities are beneficial both to the local community and the environment.

On-site Head Gardener Simon Cummins,

from Nurture Landscapes, organised an interactive programme for the children.

The event began with an introductory discussion by Simon about the wildlife and vegetation present at the Television Centre, designed and chosen specifically

to meet urban environment requirements. The group of eager students was next launched

into the area to take a closer look. With a work booklet in hand, they set out

to identify the various types of trees on-site and the qualities unique to each

tree. The next task was to forage around the flowerbeds in order to identify and name any bugs

and wildlife they encountered.

After a short break, the morning

was brought to a close with a discussion led by Simon about the long-term

sustainability of the area and the importance of protecting the local

environment.
