Television Centre’s immersive lighting installation, ‘Dialogue’, invites you to experience a space that senses your presence, creating a shared visual memory that evolves with every interaction. Part of the Television Centre’s London Design Festival 2024 showcase, this installation uses an advanced sensory lighting system to respond to individual and crowd dynamics. By highlighting the architecture of 2 Television Centre, Dialogue demonstrates how light can reactivate spaces, guide flow and foster a communal atmosphere.

Observe your impact on the space as each interaction creates a “trace”, shaping the environment around you. Sensors capture the subtlety of your presence, blending it with the collective flow and density to create a shared experience. Colour and gradients softly illuminate and intensify, reflecting the energy of the space and supporting the Television Centre’s identity as a creative hub of human and architectural connection.

At the heart of Dialogue is a bio-inspired lighting installation by Synthetic State, a prototype exploring “Interfaceless Interfaces,” where natural, spatial interaction replaces traditional clicks and buttons. This installation showcases how novel technology can push the boundaries of traditional lighting design and its vast potential for both artistic expression and functional enhancement.
