Television Centre was delighted to host Andy’s Man Club at BBC StudioWorks in February to record their podcast series Brew & Chat.

ANDYSMANCLUB are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free to attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. They work to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation. Since its formation in 2016, the charity has grown into one of the UK’s leading men’s mental health organisations, dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding men’s mental wellbeing.

The charity now runs more than 300 weekly support groups across the UK, focused on creating safe spaces where men can find peer-to-peer support through informal chats over a brew and a biscuit.

Andy’s Man Club created their podcast series “Brew & Chat” as another way for people to access support, wherever they are, through honest conversations that feel familiar and approachable, with the series format mirroring their group sessions: warm, honest and conversational, with a light-hearted touch as guests choose a brew and a biscuit before recording.

Each episode begins with some check-in questions and then moves into a more open conversation. Just like their group sessions, there’s no judgement and no pressure to share beyond what feels comfortable.

Suicide affects friends, families, partners, workplaces and communities, which is why Andy’s Man Club is keen to have a diverse range of voices involved. So far, they’ve welcomed some amazing guests such as Ben West, the mental health activist, and Jordan Adams, a dementia awareness campaigner, endurance fundraiser, and co-founder of the FTD Brothers initiative.

The recent recording session at BBC StudioWorks was a huge success, and we look forward to welcoming the team back to the studios to film the next round of podcasts in the coming weeks.
